TONIGHT ON WORLDWIDE SPORTS
RADIO @ 9PM WATCH IT ON FACEBOOK What is happening with football on Long Island, NY? The past decade has seen a violent ebb and flow on the LongIsland football landscape. Hofstra closed it's football program, Jack Coan and Jeremy Ruckert committed to major Division I programs, and major youth leagues disappeared or splintered off into independent teams. A 14 year old team
won the New Year's bowl in San Antonio Texas and now a Long Island 8th grader has 8 full-scholarship offers from top power 5 colleges including the Big Ten and SEC. A bunch of high school players, many more than in the past, also have offers to play in college. Tune in this Thursday night for an informative, perhaps controversial dive into Long Island football. We will be
talking with special guests Benjamin Carey, Gerald Filardi, and Al Brown. QWe will be taking calls during the show. BENJAMIN J. CAREY PRESIDENT OF LONG ISLAND ELITE FOOTBALL Benjamin
Carey is the torchbearer for youth football in Long Island. You would be hard pressed to find a kids football activity on Long Island that he is not somehow connected to. His exhaustive efforts to raise the level of football in the region and increase opportunities for young players has created an exciting new movement. Carey's programs model all the right principles, organizational policies, and safety practices, and have received many awards. In 2013 Carey's NPYFC was chosen to film an NFL USA
Football Television Commercial that aired during the Super Bowl. He is also the co-founder of The Liberty Challenge, President of LIYFA, LISpartans, YFBCA, and NPYFC. GERALD FILARDI FORMER PITTSBURGH STEELERS AND PENN STATE PLAYER AND HEAD COACH AT HILLS WEST HS ALSO CO-FOUNDER OF LONG ISLAND ELITE FOOTBALL Gerald Filardi has
ignited youth football on Long Island in a major way. He is the head coach of Hills West High School, Founder of the Long Island Spartans, co-founder of The Liberty Challenge and leads the charge to raise the level of football in the region. He is a frequent speaker at local and national events, and sits on the board of numerous football organizations. Filardi was one of Penn State's all-time leading tacklers, played in the NCAA National Championship, and later played for the Pittsburgh
Steelers. AL BROWN FORMER SYRACUSE AND PHILADELPHIA EAGLES PLAYER AND LINEBACKERS COACH AT ERASMUS HALL HS ALSO COACHED LONG ISLAND ELITE
FOOTBALL Al Brown is another leader elevating Long Island Football. He played for Syracuse University and then for the Philadelphia Eagles. He played for and
later coached the NYPD football team. He has coached the Springfield Rifles in Queens, Baldwin Bombers, Freeport Red Ravens and Long Island Elite football. He is currently the Linebackers coach at Erasmus Hall. Coach

your son missed playing on the Elite National Team last year in the Texas New Year's bowl he missed a huge opportunity for exposure. Did you know that 4 players from that team 1 8th grader and 3 freshman already have college offers? If
your son wants to play in college, follow our blueprint. They might call us crazy for our commitment to football, but our program is finally showing the fruits and rewards that have been many years in the making. We know what we're doing. Thank you to every coach, parent, youth program, and journalist who supported and helped along the way. Sit back this year and watch our alumni on the rosters of the top high school teams, and make sure to give a pound to the dozens of alumni players who have already garnered college offers at the D1, D2, and D3 levels. OUR KIDS ARE BALLING OUT ON THEIR HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS AND PLAYING IN COLLEGE!!!!!!! This past January after 9 years of hard work our senior team went to Texas and blew out the competition in San Antonio, shocking the local spectators and officially putting any doubts to rest about Long Island youth football. You can scroll back and see all the photo and video highlights on our Instagram and
Facebook. In fact, most of the top high school football players on Long Island have played for the Long Island Elite National Team at one time in their youth football years. Take a look on our Website and Social Media accounts and you will see a who's who list of these exceptional high school and college players who ground their teeth in our program and have moved on to being highly recruited high school players and college players. LONG ISLAND ELITE NATIONAL TEAMS WILL RETURN TO TEXAS JANUARY 6 - 8, 2023.
TRYOUTS ARE OPEN NOW!
TEXAS, the MECCA of football:
4 days on THE BIGGEST STAGE and one of the most highly recruited events in football!
Real exposure for the kids, no marketing gimmicks.
This event is heavily focused on recruiting, exposure, and networking; a perfect platform for players to establish relationships for their college endeavors. Even for the very young kids in our program it's a chance to establish relationships with recruiters and get on their radar for future conversations.
This week in Texas has the highest college recruiting activity of any other post-season event. It is an opportunity for our Long Island players to make a name for themselves and get on the national radar.
This event in Texas is NOT run by a marketing company looking for a money grab.
This is quality football. The teams are independent and not bought or registered by the organizer like so many of the other companies hosting football tournaments. This is not the type of event where you pay-to-play, show up and get your uniform, meet your team for the first time, practice for two days, and then play in a tournament. This is NOT that model.
In addition to the Texas vs. New York event, the team may compete in other events like the Liberty Challenge, 7v7's, and specialty clinics. We are hoping to return to the prestigious "Baker's Field" at Columbia University for the next Liberty Challenge.
